Urea or sulphate of ammonia? Which is better for Rice (1979)

This IREC Farmers Newsletter present the results of a trial undertaken to compare the urea with ammonia sulphate. The trial was undertaken with 8 different application timing including at sowing, before second flush, before third flush, 4 days before permanent flood, immediately before permanent flood, immediately after permanent flood, later tillering and PI. The conclusion of this years trial was ammonia sulphate appears to be more efficient on dry soils prior to permanent flood. Where as urea appears to be more efficient in flooded situation. It was indicated that overall it was cheaper purchase more kg of N that kg of urea or ammonium sulphate.
