This IREC Farmers Newsletter presents information and an update on the RIRDC project UCS 16A investigation early desiccation to help control arrowhead. It is believed that environmental factors such as water depth and availability, light temperature and plant hormone (ethylene) influence the  germination of rice weeds such as Arrowhead. The article concludes that a period of early desiccation in the life cycle of Arrowhead can aid in its control. If used in conjunction with an integrated weed management this is a potential control measure against arrowhead.
