This IREC Farmers newsletter presents results of trials undertaken at Yanco Agricultural Institute over previous 3 rice seasons. The trials were investigating the potential of semi dwarf rice culture in NSW. The results presented showed that semi dwarfs agronomic advantages for growers. The yields were generally higher when nitrogen rates were intermediate to high. A study in the 1980/81 season also investigated seed rates. The author states that extensive district trials are planned for the following season together with quality evaluation and market acceptance.
