Grain yield loss through lodging in rice (1980)
Hartley, J
1980
This IREC Farmers Newsletter presents the results of a research undertaken at Yanco Agricultural Institute during the 1980 rice season. The aim of the research was to determine where the yield loss occurred in lodging. There were comparisons made between hand harvesting and machine harvesting. The year had very little lodging occurring however the trial did conclude that the main cause of grain loss was the inability of equipment to successfully lift the crop when harvesting. It was concluded that lodged crops had as many tillers and as much grain as non lodged crops.
