improvements in rice pure seeds scheme (1979)
Hartley, R, Lewin, L
1979
This IREC Farmers Newsletter presents and update on the improvements undertaken in the pure seed scheme. 1979 saw the implementation of increased cold storage and the ability to store a nucleus of each variety that a small amount could be sown each year to maintain pure seed. The new freezer and cold storage facilities enabled the pure seed scheme to store grains for and a continuous temperature to allow for greater length and consistency of storage. This was to ensure better quality and to maintain pure seed.
