This IREC Farmers Newsletter presents an update of trials undergoing on M7 a semis dwarf and comparisons between Calrose varieties. The breeding programs focus between 1980 and 1982 had been on evaluations of the semi dwarf varieties and Calrose types. This article presents information on the different nitrogen requirements for both varieties, lodging, yields, temperature and seeding rates. The article presents general comments on the suitability of M& for commercial use in the NSW rice industry.
