Rice variety trials 1980-81 (1981)

This IREC Farmers Newsletter article presents the results for the rice variety trials of 1980/81. 15 trials were undertaken of variety x Nitrogen rates across a grower properties. These trials were established across all rice growing regions in conjunction with district agronomists. The conclusion of these trials was that semi dwarf were tested under insufficient nitrogen. It was noted that much higher nitrogen rates would be required for future experiments to assess their yield potential. There were mixed results however YRL20 consistently yield higher than YR21.
